Daniel
Today at church was Compassion Sunday. This is the once a year opportunity at our church to sign up to sponsor a child living in poverty. After our trip to South America there are many memories of needy children's faces that we saw along the way. I have always wanted to do this but never made the commitment before today. So we chose a little boy, Daniel, who lives in Bolivia. For us it had to be a South American child. Daniel will be 7 in September. I hope his journey in life will be helped by the little we contribute and that he will learn that two older people so far away care about him and are praying for him and his family. If you are interested in learning about this organization you can go to www.compassion.com.

Oh that is so wonderful! You are helping to take care of a little Daniel....so sweet!
ReplyDeleteAnother amazing organization is Heifer International. This is the program we do at school and instead of just giving a "hand out", it's a "hand up" of giving animals such as goats or cows for milk, or chickens to raise or bee hives for honey....the water buffalo helps plow fields. The "gift" is then passed on to the community by giving away it's offspring to other people in the community. It was started by a doc who thought it would be better to provide a constant milk source instead of just handing out powdered milk. Pretty cool. We are just now collecting money again at school...last year we raised 3,700....pretty amazing for our school! The kids really get into it! Here's the website: http://www.heifer.org/
Love!
